C-6

Lots of applique.
I used "freezer paper on top" applique and reverse applique.

Print or trace the block onto freezer paper TWICE and cut out as follows.

Iron the freezer paper circle onto the right side of a piece of background fabric and cut out, leaving about 1/4" seam allowance all the way around.
Out of your main fabric, cut 2 squares 6"x6".
Place one square face up on the table and center the background fabric circle (with the freezer paper on top) on top of it.
Baste through all layers being careful to leave room for turning under the fabric along the edges.

Applique the circle onto the square. Remove the freezer paper. Press.

Iron the other freezer paper shape onto the center of the other fabric square and cut out as in the photo. Clip the curved edges almost to the seam line every 1/4" or so.

Place the fabric square with the circle face up on the table. Place the shape you just cut out right side up on top of it. Be careful to center it accurately.
Baste through all layers leaving room around the edge for turning under the fabric.

Reverse applique.
Remove the freezer paper and press.
Trim the block to 5" square being careful to center and align everything correctly.
If you'd like, trim away some of the fabric bulk from the back of the block.
